Lielvardes Rumbina ***
THE HIGHEST WATERFALL AT THE DAUGAVA RIVER NOWADAYS
Height: Around 2,1 m. Some find here two cascades - 0,3
and 1,8 m high.
Width: Although it is specified that
the width is 10,6 m, the water generally is flowing at 2 m width and more
- in floodtime.
River: Rumbina
Location:
Ogre district, eastern part of Lielvarde town. You can find it, turning
to the direction of Daugava river from the Riga - Daugavpils road to
the A. Pumpurs museum and then after some 200 m turning to the left, and
driving
until the river.
Accessibility: Very simple. Leave
the car (if you have got it) and walk along asphalted pathway some 15 m.
Description: Little mentioned but beautiful waterfall.
Water falls over dolomitic sandstone. The view is spoiled by an ugly building
near the fall.
